Olive oil:

Extra-virgin olive oil, in addition to giving a supply of vitamin D, promotes its absorption because it is a carrier that promotes the absorption of all fat-soluble vitamins.

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol):

Its most important function is to promote the reabsorption of calcium in the kidney, the intestinal absorption of phosphorus and calcium and the processes of mineralization of bone; without an adequate supply of vitamin D, the body can not effectively absorb calcium. As it is known to all, Vitamin D is produced by our skin exposed to the sun, more precisely by the keratinocytes present; in fact Vitamin D3 derives from its precursor 7-dehydrocholesterol which is available in large quantities in human and animal skin.
Several studies have shown the poor information provided by physicians about Vitamin D deficiency, which is a significant risk factor for overweight individuals or those with a high body mass index, if you have insufficient intake of supplements, if you belong to the Asian race and live in non-equatorial areas.
In fact, worldwide, two out of three postmenopausal women (64%) have inadequate levels of Vitamin D, as in women with osteoporosis worldwide, with rates as high as 90% in non-equatorial countries. Previous studies have even shown rates as high as 83% in the Middle East. But even two-thirds of women with osteoporosis living in sunny areas have inadequate Vitamin D levels, and that insufficient supplementation is a powerful predictor for the presence of inadequate Vitamin D levels. In Italy, a national multicenter study coordinated by the Molinette Hospital in Turin, Italy, showed that Vitamin D is insufficient in 76% of Italian women.

Low levels of Vitamin D could lead to a higher incidence of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus and type 1 diabetes. Vitamin D deficiency in fact could hinder the proper functioning of the immune system leading to the appearance of diseases related to it. Moreover, those who have low levels of vitamin D have a higher risk of developing coronary heart disease and Alzheimer's. Interesting is also the correlation between low levels of Vitamin D3 and depressive states. Vitamin D, in fact, stimulates the production of serotonin, the hormone of happiness.

The sudden shortage of available Vitamin D, in the space of a few thousand years, has caused a chain reaction in our body, a real disruption, not only for the metabolism of calcium, but also in many hormonal problems, making us lose virility, strength, muscle mass and even increasing the level of obesity.
For example, a recent Austrian study (Hormone Metabolic Research, 43: 223-225, 2011) showed that daily supplementation of 3000 IU of Vitamin D for one year increased testosterone by 20% and biologically active free testosterone by 17%. This means that simply by supplementing Vitamin D we could have more testosterone for our workouts, our mental focus, and even our sexual activity.

Vitamin K2 - Menoquinone 7 MK7

Vitamin K, like vitamins A, D and E, belongs to the group of liposoluble vitamins.

Vitamin K was discovered by the Danish biochemist Henrik Dam in 1929, who also won the Nobel Prize thanks to this discovery. This vitamin was named Vitamin K, where K stands for coagulation (in German and Danish: Koagulation) which is the important ability of blood to coagulate and in how long. It was later discovered that there are two main types of Vitamin K: Phylloquinone (K1) and Menaquinone (K2).

Vitamin K2 is found in various forms, from MK-4 up to MK-14. However, from MK-10 and up, it is quite rare. The MK number refers to the length of the side chain consisting of the so-called isoprene units of Vitamin K. Only MK-7 and MK-4 are generally used in dietary supplements.

Because Vitamin K2 MK-7 stays in the body longer than both Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2 MK-4, the MK-7 version is considered more effective. Vitamin K2 is especially important for the distribution of calcium in our bone tissue. Bone tissue breaks down and regenerates all the time, and whether it is bone tissue breakdown or regeneration that prevails depends on our age, activity level and diet. It is Vitamin K2 that is especially involved in the transport of calcium in bone tissue. The cells that form the bones are called osteoblasts, and they produce a protein called osteocalcin that is activated by Vitamin K, thus helping to transport calcium from the blood and blood vessels and fix it in the bone tissue, thus promoting normal bone function.

Moreover, another important function of this vitamin is the activation of the MPG protein (Matrix GLA Protein) that mobilizes calcium from soft tissues and arteries where if present it can be harmful.
