Dandelion.

Dandelion also belongs to the Asteraceae, a family of plants known in phytotherapy for its beneficial properties on liver health.
The friend of liver and intestine. It promotes the increase of bile production by the liver and helps protect its cells. The richness in inulin of dandelion helps to keep active the intestinal bacterial flora and therefore the wellness of the whole body. In fact inulin is considered as a prebiotic, that is a substance capable of promoting the wellness of positive bacterial flora (Lactobacillus and Bifidus) to the detriment of non positive ones (Enterobacteriaceae in general). Also the action of stimulating the elimination of excess liquids of Dandelion is of a certain importance.

Artichoke

Artichoke (Cynara scolymus) is a plant belonging to the Asteraceae family.

The cynarin contained in Artichoke has a recognized detox action: in fact, it stimulates the secretion of bile ducts and promotes diuresis and the elimination of toxins.

Allied to the well-being of the liver, Artichoke is the natural remedy of excellence to promote proper liver function. Artichoke, moreover, has a hypocholesterolemic power and it is one of the best natural remedies for containing the level of haematic lipids.

Burdock.

Burdock (Arctium lappa) is a herbaceous plant which, like Artichoke, Milk Thistle and Dandelion, belongs to the Asteraceae family.
Widespread in temperate areas, Burdock is known for its antiphlogistic and antibiotic properties with a dermopathic effect. Burdock also performs a depurative activity by stimulating liver and biliary functions. It has a hypoglycemic and cholesterol lowering action, slightly laxative. In the root we find lignans, vitamins of the B complex, amino acids, trace elements, bitter substances and tannins; but above all it is constituted by inulin, which has a draining and purifying action on the blood, which promotes the elimination of toxins, that is the "waste" of the different metabolic reactions of the body.

Milk Thistle.

Like Artichoke, also Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) is a plant belonging to the family of Asteraceae. Used in phytotherapy to detoxify the liver also in presence of disorders such as liver cirrhosis, this plant is certainly one of the best natural remedies to detoxify the body. Typical and spontaneous plant of the Mediterranean scrub, it belongs to the bitter herbs and it has always been used for the wellness of the emunctory organs. The characteristic constituent is silymarin, a set of flavolignans, which plays its hepatoprotective activity by inhibiting the peroxidation of fatty acids and more generally as an inhibitor of the formation of metabolites harmful to the liver. Among the components of silymarin, silybinin counteracts hepatic damage from cirrhosis, hepatitis and drug intake. The active ingredients stimulate tissue renewal and studies show an effect of Milk Thistle in restoring transaminase and bilirubin values. Silandrin reduces the synthesis of triglycerides and interferes with the activity of the enzyme cyclooxygenase, involved in inflammation. Silymonin, another component of silymarin, modulates the activity of hepatic enzymes involved in detoxification. The milk thistle also acts at systemic level thanks to the content of antioxidants, vit E and C, flavonoids and the same silybin that stimulates the superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase. In addition to a depurative effect by stimulating the diuresis through toxifolin.

Nettle.

Nettle (Urtica dioica L.) is a perennial herbaceous plant widespread in Europe, Asia, North Africa and North America, even though its origins date back to the coldest regions of Europe and Asia. Leaves are rich in chlorophyll, mineral salts (especially iron, phosphor, magnesium and calcium, but also magnesium and zinc), vitamins A, C and K, tannins.
Used since ancient times for its diuretic and antirheumatic properties, it is indicated in inflammations of the urinary tract, in the prevention and treatment of kidney stones, and in arterial hypertension. Recent clinical studies have also demonstrated an effectiveness in benign prostatic hypertrophy. It activates digestive functions by acting both on the liver and on gastrointestinal motility.

Lemon Balm.

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Southern Europe and Asia, whose leaves and flowers are used for medicinal purposes. Lemon balm is a source of vitamin C, thiamine, flavonoids, phenolic acids, terpenes, rosmarinic acid, caffeic acid, tannins and eugenol acetate. It has sedative and calming effect; moreover it seems to have antiviral properties (in particular towards cold sores). Its medicinal uses include the treatment of digestive problems (stomach discomfort, bloating, flatulence, vomiting and colic), that of pain (for example of menstrual origin, headache and toothache) and that of problems of the psychological sphere (such as depression, anxiety, restlessness, sleep disorders and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder). It promotes gastrointestinal activity by facilitating the elimination of toxins and metabolic waste trapped in the body.

Birch.

Birch, whose botanical name is Betula Pendula, is a perennial tree species, capable of reaching remarkable heights. It belongs to the family of Betulaceae. Among the many properties of this plant stand out the depurative, draining, anti-inflammatory and analgesic ones. These properties are guaranteed by the presence of important active principles such as: tannins, flavonoids, essential oil, vitamin C, triterpene saponins, betuloretic acid, monoterpene glycosides, caffeic acid and proanthocyanidins.
